Hello BYC.

I am new to chickens and I really appreciate this forum....I have learned so much just lurking.

Our new babies arrived yesterday from Welp Hatchery. We ordered 27 and received 34. Two were dead when we opened the box and two died the first day but the remaining 30 look perky and healthy.

We have Buff Orp hens, Acacauna hens, Black Austrolorp hens, Road Island Red hens, Blue Wyandotte hens, a Black Jersey Giant roo, and 10 slow grow broilers for meat.

We are three....me, my wonderful husband and a miracle little girl who is three years old. We just moved to Kansas and are living in the country. We moved from a large city in California. We love this new life so much and look forward to hanging out with the "girls" out in the hen house and having fresh eggs and organic chicken in the freezer this winter.

I have tried to post pictures both on my page and on a post and I can't get it to work. I would love some detailed instructions on how to get the pics from "my uploads" to a post and to my page. Thank you!

Also, thank you all for this wonderful online place about chickens...I am grateful to be able to connect with like minded people who "no the ropes" so to speak about chickens.
Peace~~~

Welcome! I actually jumped to your post hoping to find answers to your posted questions...lol. There are answers to just about any question you might have on this site though, so keep looking. I know I've seen something on here about posting pictures, so I guess I'm going to have to go searching too.
Congratulations on your move too...don't you just love the country??!!??

Hiya, from Lawrence!

Glad to have another BYCer in the area!

Welcome to the lovely addiction. There's infinite information and enabling here...

Hello everyone! Thank you for your welcomes.

To Jenjscott....thanks for the pic posting instructions.....I still can't get it to work. When I try to post pic to my page I followed the instructions and it just pastes the words from the image url not the actual pic.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

To my fellow Kansans...hello hello....Hiya Lawrence! ....you are only 15 minutes away!

If anybody knows what I'm doing wrong with the pics please let me know. I have some great pics of our girls house construction in progress and also cute cute pics of my babies.

Peace to all~~

Hey there and welcome to Kansas from Bonner springs here. I have (after the fox) 2.5 chickens. But I am planning on ordering more. I have two tramatised hens that have pretty much quit laying, and one in a box on the kitchen table that is just now taking her first steps after the fox kill. I am planning on ordering more chicks, or finding a local auction or swap meet to replace my sadly lost hens. Would be happy to know other close by peple who have poultry.

Mike, don't get any grown animals from swap meets- Coryza is making its way around here, and you could bring home a bird that will never again show any signs of illness yet could kill everyone left in your flock...it's very ugly- a friend has lost nearly 200 from a healthy appearing bird from a swap meet that was a carrier- and no length of quarantine would show any symptoms in the carrier bird- you wouldn't know until it was too late.

If you want chicks I have some here that have been freshly hatched, and not exposed to any outside...just my dining room! There are others who have fresh hatches, too-

I just wouldn't be happy knowing I didn't say something.
