Hi! Wanted to introduce myself as I am new to BYC and the instructions told me to do this email. I have 5 six month old mix breed hens, 1 mix breed rooster, 1 Serama hen and rooster, 6 month old chicks 4 Wheaton Marans, and 2 silver laced red Wyandottes. Will be looking to getting more Marans and some Americanas in the spring. I have 4 elderly Llamas and 4 Boer Goats. I inherited the Llamas and my farm and now I am trying to expand beyond the Llamas and actually grow our own food. So excited to be here.

Thanks and have a great day.

When you mentioned elderly llamas I flashed on toothless smiling llamas walking with canes. I think I've had too much pepsi tonight. How old do llamas generally get to be?

I hear they make great livestock guardians and especially dislike coyotes, dogs etc.

LOL. Llamas in the wild typically live to be 12 - 15 years. Domesticated Llamas typically live to be 15 - 18. I have one that is 25 this year. She needs a cane but has no hands to hold it! :)

Hi and :welcome

Sounds great! I've always liked llamas for some reason, I think they look quite cute. :P
Good luck with expanding your farm!

I will check out the other sites! Thanks so much for the tip!
