Thanks a bunch! I'm happy to be here I was wondering, do you know of anyone who have raised any marans' out here? I heard they weren't very heat tolerant and I'm not sure I should be getting them if our summers are gonna be too rough....

I have been gone too long from the area, to be of any help with the Marans. Check to see if there is a Marans thread and a NM Thread and you may find someone there.
