Hello to everyone!

I am without doubt the anomaly here - I don't have chickens yet. Nope, not one. I found this place when doing research toward keeping backyard chickens. I come from a family that has kept livestock (ducks, rabbits, horses), so I'm well aware of the commitment required. I want to go into chicken keeping as informed as I possibly can. I've been both inspired and impressed by the reading I've done here.

I'm living in Lake Oswego, Oregon (which is just south of Portland) with my husband, son (aka The Boy), an elderly cat, and two fishtanks.

I've got lots of beginner questions, and will scuttle off to post them in the appropriate places!

Your not the only one that doesn't have their chicks yet. It's good to see people doing their research first. Be warned though this place is addictive, chickens are addictive, hatching is addictive.
