We are finally starting our own backyard chicken adventure after years of wanting to! I'm so excited! We live in the city in a neighborhood that is mostly friendly to chicken-owners, granted they don't get loose and start flying around. We're working on building a coop that works in our small yard to house 6 hens.

I have already spent hours on this website reading about everything and am glad to be a part of such a helpful group!

Welcome!

As you have already received some links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive or pics of the coop build, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
