My family and I are new to raising chickens and this site has been so helpful!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We bought our first chicks this past spring.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 8 hens and 1 rooster.
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Jersey Giants, 3 Araucana, 1 ISA Brown, 2 Barred Rock
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was looking for information about how to take care of our chickens and just found the website.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Mostly just spending time with my family.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have 4 children (ages 9, 7, 3, and 1) and a dog (boxer). We have really enjoyed our chickens and learning how to take care of them. I never knew you could have chickens in the city
We are originally from Mississippi where most chicken farms I knew of were large farms and the chickens were only raised for meat. We love our backyard pets and have been so excited that they have just started laying eggs!
