Hello everyone I am just dropping in to say hello and hope everyone is having a good day♡
This site is very interesting! :)
I am not new to raising chickens but haven't had any in a few years since my grandfather passed away I had my big setup at his farm however the farm is not in the family any longer :-( I am just starting back up since I missed it chickens are just cool.
We only have 1 big ole rooster yet soon we will be adding 2 -3 girl's for him... I am getting lots of ideas on making my own coop I built a small one for Jeff the Rooster but to small for the additions I want to add a bigger pen.. just trying to find material to build what I would like it to be. I have awesome ideas just now to put them in motion.;-)

Check out the Learning Center on here, then you could cruise thru the Coop & predators section to give you a better idea why some things are done when building a coop/run for your birds.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Jeff is a very pretty boy. Sorry about the passing of your grandfather, it is too bad when family farms are lost. Good luck with the new coop build, hope you are able to increase your flock soon. You might do a search into pallet coops, some really good ideas on recycling and re-purposing in those.
Be sure to check out the BYC Learning Center for lots of good poultry keeping articles, https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and You might also like to check out the Wisconsin state thread for your chicken keeping neighbors. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/245700/wisconsin-cheeseheads

So sorry for the passing of your grandfather. They are such cornerstones of our lives and are always greatly missed.

I don't know what breed your boy is but he is a beauty!! Enjoy all your poultry adventures and welcome to our flock!
