(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had my first chickens in 2008/2009 when I owned a house in Kentucky. I’ve been on a break from chickens for the last five years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I ordered 20 chicks from Meyer that are shipping to me in Maine on October 1st and a friend has been begging me to take her last three birds off her hands so she can be done with chicken keeping. I’m picking them up maybe Wednesday.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I think the adult birds I’m taking from my friend are red sexlinks and some type of bantam rooster.
For the chicks I ordered some of my old faves: buff orps, barred rocks, red sexlinks. And some that are new to me: silver dorking (bf picked those out because their name has the word dork in it lol), austra whites, Black Copper Marans.

BYC was a real lifesaver for me when I first had chickens 10 years ago.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I’m a certified yoga instructor. I love gardening. This year I only grew flowers. I love traveling. I went to Bali for two months this year. I love dogs.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live on a farm in Maine that my boyfriend owns. We have one dog that I’ve had for 10 years. She prefers my bf though. They are besties! I’m really excited to get my chickens.
