Thanks so much! We bought this farm about 6 years ago.

LOL that posted before I was done! I'm getting used to the sight navigation!

We love having the space. We do our own haying. i'm excited to add chickens to the farm!

Not a worry! Chickens to me bring life to the farm or yard. Honestly their antics, clucking, and in general liveliness make a place feel so much more alive and home. We purchased our property (tomorrow) makes a year! We are working to get it into a small hobby farm. However the past month has been a challenge with the constant rain .

If you don't mind sharing some pictures down the road would love to see your farm! Down the road we can share our flocks and enjoy all that comes with it! Fluffybutts forever!

What breeds of chicks are you going to start with?

Absolutely! It is a constant work in progress as i'm sure you know. I've been wanting chickens for quite a while. Finally getting it done!

Congratulations on your farm. Good stuff! Rain makes for a muddy mess. I feel your pain! We get a super muddy season in spring after all the snow melts. Oh well, we carry on.

I know handling them as chicks makes them friendly and used to people. So I thought I would start with 4 each of Plymouth Rock, Sex Linked, Leghorn, Buff Orpington and Isla Brown. Sounds like good choices and you are well on your way. Congrats! I have Golden Buffs best layers of large brown eggs for the money easy on feed bill as only weigh 4 lbs and lay every day. Love my Plymouth Rock as lays large to Xlarge dark brown eggs 2-3 per week but beautiful at 70g plus per day. I also have Speckled Sussex love as very friendly bird laying large light brown eggs 2-3 per week. I want a Leghorn for white eggs in future and a blue layer like a Cream Legbar.
