I've just joined the forum. I live in Maine and am finally settled in the right place to have chickens! It has taken seventeen years to get to this point, but I never lost hope! I've been around chickens before, but never had my own flock to tend. So I'm looking forward to learning from all of you here on this forum.
Right now I have two Bantam hens, and I'm not sure what they are - either Japanese (whites), Leghorn, or Old English. I don't have great photos of them, but will see what I can do, and maybe someone can help me figure out what breed they are. Twelve chicks will be arriving the 1st of June: 3 Auracana; 3 Orpington; 1 silver, 1 golden laced Wyandotte; 1 RI Red; 1 Australorp; 2 speckled Sussex.
I've been doing a lot of reading about tending chickens, and the Bantams are teaching me each day, too! The coop is under construction; the little hens are in a temporary coop in the garage. I'm having a challenge with the interior (no pun intended) layout of the coop, so maybe I'll be able to glean some wisdom in the pages of this forum.
