Hello from Maryland!

I think that I only have 1 hen. All 6 of my chickens are pictured in this thread. (The 2 in the background of the 3rd pic are roosters, also, right?). All 6 of them have slate legs. What does that indicate to you?
So the BA bin was mislabeled at TSC - and we did not know enough to realize that we weren't getting BSL chicks. Next time I will be wiser (I hope, anyway!)
Now, what to do with 5 roosters? A really expensive BBQ?
The DH is already looking for p-o-l replacements.
Thanks again for all of the help.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Good luck with all your projects and welcome to our flock!

Slate shanks are the color for BA just not the rust hackles. He more than likely is some type of BA cross. The 2 on the left are roosters but impossible to tell the 3 on the right. Gut says 2 hens that you can pick up the body shape but the one bathing? If they look like the first picture, they are hens, if they have a more upright posture, big combs and waddles and long cycle tail feathers, boys.

Update:
TSC will refund the money, but doesn't want the roosters (of course!).
We are working on re-homing them. No luck so far.
I am not morally opposed to eating them, but have no experience with slaughtering and plucking, and frankly don't want to try in this heat...so the "oops-bought-Australorps-instead-of-BSL-and-5-of-them-turned-out-to-be-roosters" saga continues.

Update:
I found a home for the roosters.
In return I got this chicken:
400

Pic #2
400

The 10 year old boy who gave it to me said he didn't know the age or breed, but said, "she's probably a hen."
Any thoughts on breed and gender? Right now it is about the size that my BA was at 15 weeks.
I will also post this in the breed/gender forum, but since you were so helpful before, i thought that I would put it on this thread, too.
Thanks!
Amanda
