Welcome from New Hampshire! The chickies will definitely take your mind off of other things. As to brooding the chicks just do not overheat them. I think that is where most of the troubles come about. Good luck and post pics of your babies!

I'm new too. I have a brooder (actually a Rubber Maid dry bin) with 12 newly hatched chicks. It is overwhelming and exciting and I'm awake half the night worrying. Put a thermometer under the lamp and let it get between 90 and 95 and then just watch how they act and good luck
