Greetings from Massachusetts! This is my first time raising chickens and I am HOOKED! They are so much fun. I started out with two Buff Orpingtons, two Australorps, and two Americanas. One of my Americanas started crowing at 10 weeks - and getting really aggressive with one of my sons. When my neighbor complained at the 5:00AM crowing it was time to say bye-bye to Hooter. Luckily we have a wonderful man nearby that takes unwanted chickens and brings them to a weekly chicken exchange. Then my flock seemed boring without my crazy rooster. So, I knew a fellow 'chicken keeper' that wanted to downsize his flock - and his were about the same age as mine. Now I've added a Barred Rock, a New Hampshire Red and a lovely little Polish Fancy. They are between 17 and 19 weeks old - hopefully I will see my first egg soon!
