Hello, my name’s Frank, I’m 17, and I own (they own me really) and show my Black Ameraucanas, BBR Phoenixes, and a handful of OEGB through the FFA. I’ve been a poultry enthusiast for about three years now even though there’s been chickens in the house since before I was born. I really enjoy this site and appreciate you guys for all the knowledge you’re willing to share; I’ve referred to this forum since I got my first chickens so I thought it’s about time that I join the community. Along with my chickens, I have an Umbrella Cockatoo and a German Shepherd named Ava. My dad’s a Spanish country man turned engineer and his appreciation for poultry is derived from his family’s long history of cock fighting—something that he’s learned to believe is a cruel and inhumane aspect of our culture (with a little help from me). Although my dad’s had chickens his entire life, his understanding of poultry husbandry is quite antiquated and not of much help or usefulness for me or the modern age for that matter so I’m grateful to have access to a great network of knowledgeable people nudge me in the right direction.
