winter is on the way and i'm trying to winterize my coop. it's my first time with chickens and i need help. please

made of sheet metal and 2 by 4s for their house and a run. house is insulated

Welcome to BYC. I use hay as insulation. But it doesnt get as cold down here like where you live. Someone from up north will chime in soon.

Your chickens don't need anything special in the winter. As long as they have a wind block so they can get out of the cold winds we get, food and water they will be fine. You can either use a heater waterer base, a heated dog water bowl or you can refresh their water twice a day when it freezes.
