Hello all!! I’m new to the group even though I do read y’all’s forum very often to help fix problems or get ideas for the coops! LOL well my names Nicki and since my creative juices aren’t actively flowing at the moment I’ll just answer the questions in bold so everyone can know alittle bit about me and my fluffy butts
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? No I am not new to chickens (my dad had 200+ of them when I was growing up) but I did get my own flock this year that I am super proud and in love with
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
At the moment I have about 40 chickens with 20 eggs in the incubator (but don’t tell my fiancée
LOL)
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have several breeds!! So far I have English Blue, Lavender and Splash Orpingtons, Welsummers, Olive and Easter Eggers, Lemon Cuckoo, Silkies, Showgirl Silkies, Bantam Calico Cochins, Pure white Cochins, Partridge Cochins, Lavender Polish and many many MANY more LOL.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love everything about it honestly (maybe not so much on cleaning up the loads of poop but there’s always a negative to a positive) I enjoy just being able to relax and watch them just interact with one another in their weird funny way LOL
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I like to play guitar, fish, cook, ride my horse, and ride four wheelers with friends!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have two loving Pits that I adopted from a kill shelter, a Holland Lop bunny that I adopted as well, a Quarter Horse that I grew from a colt, and 3 fish (a Betta and 2 blue Gouramis)! I’m a Respiratory Therapist and I work at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I found BYC by doing some searches on Google for information about my chickens LOL I love how informative y’all are and how at least SOMEONE has had the same issue as someone else and has advice for how to handle it!
