Hello from SW Mississippi! We raise Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, and Americana chickens. We're fairly new to raising so many at once (30 hens, 2 roos) and needed a place to go to learn more about keeping them healthy.

Looking forward to learning as much as I can about our babies! šŸ„°šŸ“ā¤ļø

Thank you! ā˜ŗļø

Not sure how all this works but I came across this forum looking for answers about my BR roo. He has black spots on his comb and I'm concerned about him. Not sure if it's from being pecked by his girls, or if it's fowl pox, frostbite or something else?!

How and where do I post my question about it?

Here's a few pics of "Rocky".

I'd appreciate any help I can possibly get. šŸ™

you can post that again in the ā€œ emergencies and diseasesā€ for him for faster answers.
In my opinion, it looks like frostbite because it’s at the tips and edges which means don’t touch it for one thing I don’t know what else will find out soon. I’m sure there’s a lot of knowledgeable folk around here.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Pretty boy! ā¤Yes it does look like he's got a bit of frost bite. You might use some bag balm on his comb to help heal and protect it. And make sure there is proper ventilation in your coop eaves to air off the moisture birds produce. Have them roost lower to the floor where there is drier air. Definitely post in our Emergency forum for more help.
