Hi All,

I live near Stillwater, MN. I'll just be "lurking" yet for a year or 2. We are recently retired and want to scratch the travel itch before we get serious about full time livestock. We have 6 1/2 acres that abuts a protected wetland. I'm intrigued by guineas as I understand that they like ticks and chiggers which we have in abundance. We don't have close neighbors so their noise shouldn't be a problem.

Just the same, who knows? My interests may change before we get serious. That's why I'll be reading all of your wisdom, hoping to learn a lot.

Many Thanks

Welcome to BYC. So glad to meet you! Best wishes with your plans. I hope you enjoy your eventual chickens, and sooner travel!

I haven't been to Stillwater for years; I had some friends who lived up that way.

I hope you enjoy your ability to travel while you can. With my menagerie, it's tough to find anyone with the skill and interest in taking care of all the critters so I can "escape" every so often.

I don't know about eating chiggers (yucky things!) but guineas are known for their ability to devour ticks. And, for their boisterous calling!

Welcome to BYC; we'll be here if and whenever you decide to get poultry!
