Hello from MN

How fo you keep your chicken's water from freezing?
I use a heated base fount waterer that is keep OUT of the coop, in the run with a solid roof. You don't want an open water source in the coop.
Remember that you do need lots of ventilation year round. The roosted birds just need to be out of any drafts during cold weather. Drafts are breezes blowing strong enough to open feathers. This is how I ventilate my coop and it works even during our sub-zero nights.

All the light coming in other than from the closed windows is open year round (and secured with 1/2" hardware cloth), including the pop doors. There is also a ridge vent and two windows away from the roosting area that are left cracked open.
I did have an incident of frostbit this year on a cockerel with huge wattles because he dunked them in the fount waterer. Having breeds suited to your climate really can make life easier for them.
