Hi All!! My husband and I are new to raising chickens, but have been loving every minute of it since we got them. July 09 we got 8 day old chicks, 4 Buff Orpingtons and 4 Barred Rocks. They just now started laying about a week and a half ago and are doing GREAT!!! Still only getting about 1 egg a day, so I don't think they are all laying yet and it's been really cold here as well. The seem fat, happy, and spoiled rotten though, LOL!!
Anyway, we just added a BR rooster to the flock on Jan 1st because we'd like to get into hatching some eggs as well, when the time is right. They seemed to adjust ok to him. Let them free range for a while before being in the same run and coop together. Our dd's are loving the experience as well, they are 2 and 4 yrs old. We will have LOTS of questions and still have a lot to learn so any advice would be great too!!
