Hello from Montana

I have popped in several times to get answers to questions while starting chickens this spring. Tons of great info!

Thought it was time to join.

My flock is at 23 weeks. They are all feed store chickens from Murray McMurray (I believe).

Lost one chick within a week and had to cull a rooster with deformed legs
started with:

3 black sex links
8 Speckled Sussex
5 Ancona
2 White Giant
2 Cuckoo Maran
2 Partridge Rocks
2 Barred Rocks

Thanks for the warm welcome.

It's been a record breaking egg day with 11 so far!!

We had some egg eaters (I think from the pullets laying from the roost!) but golf balls and a mustard filled egg seemed to have done the trick. Or maybe it was just nature fixed itself...I don't care as long as there are eggs! WOOHOO.

My son took a dozen over to the neighbor for putting up with the noise and she said she loves the rooster crowing! She still took the eggs though!!
