Hi everyone. I'm Dawn, and my husband Shawn and I have ventured into chickens, now that we have the land for them. We have 5 chickens that are about 6 weeks old and we have a goose that is a little over a week old.

Make sure your goose is well-contained...my MIL has a couple neighbors feuding right now because their geese weren't well-contained goose got out and bit the other neighbor. He is trying to get the county to remove the geese.

The "injured" neighbor is being a bit dramatic IMO wanting them removed as dangerous or whatever, but the geese did swim across a lake, come in his yard...and then one bit him on the butt.

It may sound funny but, once two Canadian Geese were approaching me, I had some bread I was throwing to the wild birds, I threw some to the Geese. Apparently the male didn't like that, he shot forward hissing and head down and bit my knee. I got what is called a "goose egg" bruise from that. Couldn't believe something with no teeth could hurt so much.

Have since changed to just feeding nice wild birds, cardinals, chickidees, and well behaved Mallard ducks.
