Hello BYCs

I started my flock this past April. My interest is in the eggs and the entertainment the birds provide. I look forward to all the knowledge I can gather from you fellow BYCs.


My flock is about 60 birds. Some ordered from an online hatchery, some where given/gifts but most bought from the local feed store. Some of the breeds include -- barred rocks, rr, silver lace wyandottes, polish, dorking,BYMs, ameraucana and a few others. I also have a small flock of guineafowl that share the coop.

Glad you could join the flock! What a lovely mixed flock you have there. I've not kept Guinea fowl myself but we do have a couple down at the farm where I keep the horse and they sure have a loud alarm call. Have you checked out the Guinea section of the forum? I live in NC as well. If you need help with anything their are thousands of BYC members who will be happy to give advice and if you have information that you would like to share their are plenty of novice farmers who need it. Also if you want to research a chicken breed you can look at our Breed Page and view thousands of ratings and pros and cons of over a hundred chickens breeds.
