Once I get a broody hen I totally intend to! I got 4 silkie chicks with the hope that at least one is female and prone to broodiness haha!

If you got your silkie from a breeder, she will very likely go broody at some point. If you got her from a hatchery - they attempt to breed "broodiness" out of them - they want regular egg production. They want fertile eggs to incubate(and sell)and/or hatch so they have more chicks to sell.
