Good morning, I'm Jody, and I'm out in Raleigh NC. Currently my partner and I have 3 chickens, soon we're gonna add 2 more chickens and 3 ducks. I had a few chickens as a kid, and now that I'm no longer in an apartment I'm able to have a flock again. We have a rhode island red, a golden laced wyandotte, and a green queen (named chickie, chick pea, and cluck cluck respectively). We're planning to get a maran and a blue egg layer next so we can have a rainbow of eggs. We love the fresh eggs, but our chickens also are pets- if it's cold we'll let them inside, and we spend a good amount of time with them- our oldest (chickie) will hop into your lap if you're sitting in the run. We also have six rats, and plan on someday getting a backyard pig. I found this site because one of our young chickens has a few traits of a rooster (seems on the edge to me), so I wanted to see if y'all could tell (so I'll be posting in that forum momentarily). Excited to join here!
