Keep having chick health problems

You would think nothing was wrong with any of my chicks today. I switched their feed and put poultry cell in their water yesterday, and today is the first day since I got them that I think they’ll all survive. Besides the 2 I lost on day 5. They’re all so active, I’m thinking I might need a bigger brooder!

I’m not sure if it was the Purina chick starter that I gave them at first. That’s the only thing I did differently with this batch of chicks vs others where none were sick.

I'm so happy to hear this! I have a question for you, though it might not be related:

Did you buy the smaller bag of Purina chick crumble? Like the 5-lb one? I ask because this was the first brand of chick crumble I ever bought, and it was so large that my chicks couldn't eat it! I wrote an article about having to break it down in a blender and everything. 😅

I'm wondering if yours experienced the same thing. If they weren't getting enough food, it could explain why their stools might not be formed, or if they were low energy.

I'd still listen to @Wyorp Rock and treat for coccidiosis, out of caution.

That’s the one I bought. I didn’t check that, maybe that’s what happened?

Their stools are normal, now. Everyone is healthy. I need to upgrade them to another brooder. They have grown so much in the last 2 days, it’s kind of crazy.
