Hello from NC

Here’s our older flock.

Rhode Island Red - “Reba”
Black Jersey Giant - “Loretta”
Blue Jersey Giant - “Wynona”
Speckled Sussex - “Patsy”
Buff Orpington - “Dolly”
Blue Wyandotte - Emmy Lou

Here’s the response I got from the hatchery for the chicks. We’re still no closer to knowing what we have. Hopefully as they get a little older it will become a little more evident.

“We are Tractor Supply's main supplier of birds, but we are not their only supplier of in store birds.”

I'm really not sure what the birds are. It looks like around June 25th, we sent them in store Americanas, Rhode Island Reds, and Black Australorps. I don't think any of them look like these breeds based on the photos.

Sorry I couldn't be more help!”

Beautiful flock! ♥️

Our TSC mystery chicks are growing up and are 20-21 weeks old now. We keep going back and forth on whether the white one is a hen or roo. The tail feathers look kinda like a roo but there is absolutely no dominant traits showing. Instead, he/she is very skiddish but definitely likes to play tricks on the older hens by not following the rules.

The two black ones are real beauties but the pictures don’t do them justice. One has green tones and the other has a brown overlay. Their combs are definitely not as red as the white one which also tends to point toward the white one being a roo.

The older girls are all in the molting stage so we are only getting 1 egg a day now, at best. We don’t think any of these are laying yet but we just installed a camera to help determine who is and who isn’t.

What do you think about the white one? Carrie or Carter?

Carter will develop into a beautiful rooster one day.
