(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My husband grew up with a few chickens, but I didn't. We bought our first chicks almost two years ago. I've been learning a lot since then.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Three grown hens and 16 chicks.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Not sure. Of the three hens, two are some kind of reds and one is a black hen that lays green eggs.
As for the chicks, we probably have black jersey giants, barred rocks, white leghorns, two buffs, two that are supposed to be sapphire gems and one of which we have no idea what breed she is!
We ordered 16 of the chicks as a variety pack, and we are pretty inexperienced when it comes to identifying breeds, so that's why I'm not sure what we have.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
While searching for more info on Sapphire gems, I found a thread in the breed here.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Geocaching!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We also have four outdoor cats and two indoor dogs. My husband and I grew up in Indiana, but moved around whie he was serving in the USAF. We moved back home just a few years ago and love that our boys are around our families!
