Hi, I've seen this site many times in my quest for chicken knowledge and I thought I should join the group.

We live in Lorain County Ohio, near Cleveland. I have almost 1 year of experience, the first peep box arrived on St Pat's last year.

We have layers and no roos. Our first flock has 7 Easter Eggers, 2 each of Buff Orpingtons, Golden Laced Wyandotte and Silver laced and Golden Buffs. Then in July we got more (chicken math) and we added 15 Whiting True Blues. Just last week we got our 3rd brood, 3 Black Copper Marans and 3 unknowns.

As a high school science teacher this has been one big experiment and I'm loving it.

While we are rural, our neighbors are close so I didn't want to bother them. And my wife does not like the idea of fertilized eggs.
then you should try quail. They are not as loud as chickens. Fertilized eggs are healthier I heard. But quail eggs are proven healthier. LOL.
