Greetings all. I am a transplanted Midwesterner now living in the beautiful foothills of NE Tennessee. A couple of weeks ago after months of researching and planning I waltzed into the local tractor supply store and walked out with 8 cute little hen chicks. They are growing like weeds and will soon be moving into their new coup. My wife and I (mostly I) have been wanting to get more self sufficient and getting some egg layers seemed like a great place to start. Goats may be in the picture eventually but for now it is just chickens and bees.
In my research I've come across groups dealing with the conservation of vanishing breeds and I have a sneaking suspicion that another flock may be in my future.
