Well, we've had the 6 chickens (we think hens haha) now for a little while. Everything is going well. The city water dept has been in my back yard and did a double-take on their dwelling according to my wife. But we haven't received a letter stating we can't have them, so hopefully all is well. We have a deal with our source for chickens (a friend of mine) that if any turn out to be roosters, he'll swap them out with us.

But like I say, so far so good and they seem really happy. For about a week I had to put them into the coop by hand, but the last 2 nights they are going there by themselves.

The little coop I built one sunday. Not as snazzy as most I've seen on here

Hello and

From the Abilene area of TEXAS.

Now son y'all should know that little coop you built is ok for now but it sure doesn't look like it is big enough for 6 hens and trust me this may be a good start but once you get into the swing of things you will be wanting more and more chickens so you will need to build it bigger and better lol just a !!!WARNING!!! as well I feel I should warn you that this site will become very addicting trust me.

I forgot to mention that the top half is removable. I built it so that it slips down over the raised floor. I plan on modifying the top half of it as needed. I had to get something done as they had to spend three days in a giant Dell Server box

I'm not a total noob to chickens...but it has been many many years haha! We had over 200 chickens when I was growing up.

Oh and six should to it for us. My wife is a runner and I'm a bodybuilder/weight lifter....so eggs are a staple. Max we will ever have is 8.....guaranteed LOL!
