Good morning everybody! I've been reading here for some time now and have learned a ton. I am 42 years young and happily married to a beautiful wonderful wife. We have a six year old daughter and a five year old daughter. I helped my grandparents raise fryers when I was young and have always wanted a place of my own to raise chickens. Well I now own my grandparents place, since their passing, and we have done some major remodeling including some dirt work to make a better area for a nice coop.

My wife recently talked me into keeping a rescue duck and of course we had to get her a friend. They are currently residing in a temporary shelter that I built. Now my coop building schedule has been bumped up a little

The original duck "Shirley" has fallen in love with me I think. When she sees me she runs to me and bites me until I sit down so she can roost on me with her wings spread out, she will then bite on to my hand and not let go. Is this normal duck behavior?

I'll be starting a coop building thread in the proper forum so that the experienced members here can help me not make any mistakes. Hopefully someday I'll be experienced enough to pay it back to other new members.

Hello to you from Nebraska--lol. Great things going on here. My past chicken raising entailed letting them free range and roost whereever they wanted. Twenty years later and I have a coop and pen so they are safe. Got a little closer to these hens and I sure don't want anyting to happen to them. Have a young silkie that loves to cuddle and that melted my heart to free ranging. Don't want my baby to disappear :) Again--welcome
