I am just getting started in the chicken biz... unexpectedly, but I am really excited. I just acquired a nice flock of chickens (14) and am looking forward to learning how to take care of them. Some are a bit old and I would like to begin planning for their departure and bringing in new blood.
Along with the chickens I also received two incubators.....so I hope to draw from the knowledge base of many of you.
Excited to be here. Take care,

Greetings from Kansas, martinw, and welcome to BYC! Great to have you aboard. As a newcomer to the chicken world, I'd suggest spending some time in the Learning Center here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
It is a vast storehouse of poultry knowledge spanning the range of all things poultry. And if you ever get a hankering to do some hatching, the folks that patrol the Incubating and Hatching Forum are masters of their craft: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/5/incubating-hatching-eggs
Finally, if you want to chat with fellow Lone Star poultry folks, locate the TX thread in the link below and say howdy: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! Congratulations on getting your chicken adventures started :clap
That's a nice flock you have there. I'm sure you will be able to put your incubators to good use, hatching sure can be addictive ;) I'm terrible once I have mine turned on and have eggs cooking!

Please do check out the links left for you above, they are really helpful.
Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Welcome!

As you have already received some great links I will just add that I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
