:) I have in the last year become a crazy chicken lady, raised all other livestock until now. I have 6 hens and a bunch of quail. It all started when my coworker gave me a hen that had a problem with her foot, my baby girl Bertha the Pirate Chicken. She now has one foot but lives her life as the Queen Bee, she is the smallest but the bossiest of all my hens.

I have a variety of breeds from Rhode Island Red, Australorp, Brahma, and two no idea what breeds as they are not what I bought them to be! haha. I never wanted chickens, but man I love these suckers... I would have hundreds if I could. I don't eat eggs so I just have them for the enjoyment and give out the eggs, everyone loves it :) My Grampie helped build a coop for us that I swear is going to save these chickens from the apocalypse, complete with commercial insulation, laminate flooring, and way too much math for my liking involved in the creation. We call it Cluckingham Palace! and that it is.

I went to school for English, and horticulture-- couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with my life, most of which I was a green house manager. I love plants and anything to do with them. So chickens are a fun way for me to work on that, I love to do the natural herb remedies for anything and obviously chickens love them! In my free time I do a lot of refurbishing and outdoor activities. We live in the middle of Nevada so hunting and fishing are kind of all there is to do. I work two jobs, at the DMV and as a barista bartender. Keeps me busy and the latter keeps me sane from my full-time job haha.

I have three dogs, a Capone (German Shepherd), Chanel (Pomeranian-- who thinks she is a cow dog and a cat all in one), and Jetta (Dutch Shepherd Pit). They are my babies, and the chickens love to torment them and it never ceases to make me smile.
Im excited to be apart of this site to get feedback and talk with other members who have wayyy more knowledge than I do and enjoy chickens just as much.
Enough of my long winded rant, I attached some pictures, and man I could show a million!! also, the first one is of my chicken Guinevere and if anyone has any idea what breed she is please let me know XD ( The photo of them on the perch was in their brooder, and Eggdar Allen Poe, the Australorp would wake me up every morning and fly back in-- in the back of the photo you can see a token chicken on the window seal who ate my crown of thorns house plant!)

Also attached one of my late silkie Elvira, I miss her dearly and wanted to give her her moment in the spotlight as she was a star! haha

Well Hello to you Cluck Welcome to Backyard Chickens loved the rant have my own this is a grand place for all please enjoy

Which bird has you stumped for breed black fuzzy is Silky
The brown, back and grey one, she is standing next to chicken yard art. She has a thick in feathers neck and small little comb :) She was supposed to be a Silver Penciled barred rock buuuuut she is not haha. My best guess has been a Favaucana.
and yeah the silkie was my baby Elvira she passed away from I have no idea what she was fine and then wasn't.

Question - does she have face fluff? And has she laid eggs yet? She looks a whole lot like my EE pullet, Smoke - she hasn't laid any eggs yet, so I have no idea what color she'll lay. Blue base, peachy color in the blue, pea comb, muffs and beard. Mine's just a bit lighter blue than yours. Where did you get her?

Your Smoke is gorgeous, and yeah she does look like her!! Mine hasn't laid yet either, I was waiting for her to so I could figure it out from that. I got her from my feed store here and funny thing was none of the chicks they got in were supposed to be easter Eggers! I hope she is one I love colorful eggs and they are a beautiful breed!

They're a mix, so there's no way of knowing what went into it - it's entirely possible that it was Ameraucana and Salmon Faverolles, to make a Favaucana! I got Smoke from a local woman, who I was actually trying to get some fertilized eggs from... she didn't have any, but I went home with what she insisted on calling 'Americana'. Which, of course, are actually Easter Eggers, not Ameraucana. However, I knew that - and they suit me just fine. I don't like eggs either, but I won't deny that I'm very curious what color my three pop out. One of them looks like she should be producing some butt-fruit any day now - not Smoke, but this girl, Ash...

If you don't mind me asking, what portion of Nevada are you in? Northern, Middle (Reno-esque) or Southern?
