I am so new to this, that I don't even have a Chicken Coop yet. The whole thought of having chickens as pets only came about around 2 weeks ago after my eight year old daughter received a little chicken as a pet from her babysitter.....yes, I did know about it prior to happening. The babysitter has a few herself and my little girls chick is currently being kept at her house. I have been researching continuously for 2 weeks now
We now plan on getting a couple more and setting up a coop and run at our own house, which brings me to a couple quick questions:
- What in everyones opinion would be the better hen for my kids (I have 3) to keep as pets?.....(I am currently looking at Australorp's)
- Are all hens able to go free range in the yard? Or, are there certain hens with.....uh, personality traits? to stay away from?
Thanks all,
Andrew
