Hello, welcome to BYC. I say no to the lamp, yes to a mhp/ mama heating pad or brooder plate. I prefer the mhp.

Another vote for a heat plate or heating pad! A large plastic tote, or cardboard box will work better then most kits! My vote for the nipple waterer too. I do use the small 1 quart fount for the 1st wk or so till all are trained to the nipple.
