hey! i am brand new to this forum too, so useless in terms of actual chickspertise. but i have a soft spot for northern new mexico...my aunt lives in dixon (20 mi. south of taos) and her hobby farm is one of my favorite places in the whole world! she is one of the inspirations for my desire to delve into chicken keeping.
i just heard it's snowing there. hope you're staying warm!
Welcome from Romadfox in SC. I am actually from Ohio, (farm in Chillicothe and lived in Xenia), but the Air Force took us around the world and landed us in SC. I have 6 hens, 9 weeks old. I have 2 X Buff Orpintons, 2 X Barred Rocks, and 2 X Rhoade Island Reds. I really want to Buckeyes cause it would be so cool to have a chicken developed in my home state. I have built a log coop for them which I am documenting on my BYC page. If you haven't built one yet, check it out as it is cheap and easy to make. Good luck with your girls and welcome!
