Hello from New Orleans!!

Yep, New Orleans!!! Well, Slidell, which is just NorthEast of NOLA. I am getting ready to set up a chicken coop/pen in my back yard. I have a pretty big fenced dog kennel that I will use. Now, I am figuring out what coop I will build. Then, what chickens!!! We will see!!!

Thanks Ya'll!!! Any advice on type of egg layer? I remember my great grandmother had chickens and had big awesome brown fresh yard eggs!! No idea what type of chickens she had though.
