My family and I really love our little flock...

BEER the matriarch (who hatched/fostered all but one of the others) is a cross breed of sorts, age unknown. Named so due to the English Beer - Old Speckled Hen (one of my partners fav pints).
LUCKY the Brown Shaver, was rehomed by us from a Bird Rescue Centre (while we took in a wild Kingfisher who couldn't fly), age unknown.
TANG-TANG the Rhode Isl Red, 8 months old & laying rather nicely.
ROSS & E.G the Mottled Pekin Bantams, 4 months old. So cute, they look like little Lawn Sweepers with their feathers touching the ground. Ross has begun to Crow, but E.G hasn't started to lay yet!

Look forward to getting & sharing great info (& stories) with you all.

Hello from California! So happy to meet you. Chickens are truly great ambassadors from all over the globe. We have 11 pullets that are 10 different breeds. Thought I would see which type I liked and have ended up liking them all!

Not familiar with a "Shaver." Is there another name for the breed?

Welcome to BYC!

Hey from Colorado! Another Kiwi! I have a buddy who raises chooks (among other things) in Takaka. I keep meaning to visit, but things keep coming up. Besides if I did visit I'd probably never leave
