Hi, I have been using the forum for several months (thanks so much to all who have helped me - I came here in desperation and found such help) I figure its time to make the introduction.
Proud mama to two children, one husband, two boxers, two parakeets, one hermit crab, many fish, and six chickens. And since it is a chicken site I will introduce them properly.
Taylor, Barred Rock, 4 yrs, has become convinced she is a rooster, but still lovable
Amanda, NH red, 4 yrs, problem child, always a medical emergency, but so lovable
The above two came to us last year as our first chickens, they were to be killed to make room for a new flock, so we took them in. That's all it took, we are now hooked.
We have three 5 months old Black Sex Links who have just begun to lay:
Cindy, the boss of the babies
Angelina, the first to lay and proud of it
Cha Cha, the non conformist, lays while roosting, bravest, but lowest on the pecking order
And one 5 month old Easter Egger???
Lillian - a little skittish, a loner, sleeps near the little ladies, runs with the big girls, without a doubt the best looking chicken I've ever seen, not really sure if Easter Egger is accurate, will post a picture when I figure out how.
None of our animals are aware that they are animals. I'm ashamed to say it would not be unusual to find dogs wrestling and a chicken in a basket in the living room.
This web site is great - thought we were the only ones.......
