I'm not a new memeber to BYC, I joined back in august, but I just saw this thread and thought I'd introduce myself!
I'm Meredith, I'm 22 years old. I have loved animals ever since I was a baby. I grew up addicted to Steve Irwin. My mom, little brother and I have always lived ln the city and I've always owned animals… when I was young I had dogs, a cat, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, ferrets, lizards, snakes and turtles. I Thank my mom for my love of animals. I have social anxitey, depression and other things. My pets are my best friends. And She always joined in happily on all my pet adventures, always took us to the zoo, and even helped me rescue a copperhead from my evil neighbor. She was never angry when the strays followed me home, and always stopped to help turtles or whatever else cross the road. She would wake us early to go drive an hour a way just to see deer, and even when she was fighting cancer she still took us hiking, camping or on day trips to the beach.
We used to live in South Carolina and 5 years ago we moved to NC. Well my real pet adventure began… I promptly began working with the humane society and fostered lots of dogs and finally adopted 2 special needs dog, my number of dogs went up and down as I found many strays here. I rescued a barn cat, that became an inside cat. But I had a barn and a chicken coop sitting empty waiting to be filled. So the idea struck me that I wanted chickens, so after a lot of research I settled on 8 buff orpingtons, but soon I sucumbed to the chickenmath! Now I own 7 buff orpingtons, 1 cochin, 3 salmon faverolls, 3 bantam orpingtons, 2 blue orpingtons, 2 brahmas, 1 jersey giant, 4 silkies, 8 Easter eggs, 3 blue lace red wyandottes and 1 australop, and I'm sure many many more to come! I have 4 dogs(for now) 2 cats, 2 bunnies and a goat.
I love sicence. I'm book crazy…i love si-fi, and murder mystery. I love write poetry and singing. I love to be outside. And I love my animals.
