Hello from North DFW.

Ok, I will try this again. This time with a little more info now that I am not answering realestate questions to Agents who call while Im trying to write a forum post - Sheesh!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Yes, I'm new to chickens. I have been interested in them for a few years and I remember seeing hens at show when I used to show Cavy and Rabbits. My Parents would never let me have chickens and then I moved out on my own and into areas that generally have deed / animal restrictions.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

None

(3) What breeds do you have?
N/A yet.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Google

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Car shows, I'm a Mazda girl and I own a RX-8. also, I do large breed dog rehabilitation and rescue. Yes, I am very aware that my chosen breeds have HUGE prey drive and have already worked the logistics on chickens vs dogs and who is my most drivey individual.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I was married April 14, 2012. I am originally from Stone Mountain, GA and he is from Aledo, TX. I'm a semi-country girl and he is a semi-urban boy, it works out well. I work from home as an IT Software Analyst for Finance and Accounting, which is fancy for "auditor" I just do it where no one is looking.

I moved to Dallas, TX in 2008 and no I am still not used to the heat. I brought with me, Kaeda, my chocolate rednose American Pitbull Terrier. When I got to DFW I was told about a litter of blonde pits that was dumped, Enter Toshka circa 2009 (she lives with my ex, but I get visitation) . I bought my home in Little Elm, TX and then I got a call about a pure white pit with blue eyes that was going to be euthanized in Austin. Pics cannot be white with blue eyes so I opened my big mouth trying to save the guy and explain he was a Dogo Argentino instead of a pit and there you have it. I brought home a Dogo in 2010. My husband and I cannot stand my HOA in the neighborhood I chose to move into and we have found the above mentioned property in Gunter, TX. It is a shortsale and has been neglected for 18 months and abandoned for just over 2 months now. While we were looking at the property I found an underweight "pocket pit" 25 lbs of happy pitbullmix that was left with no food, no water and little shelter. A 250lbs potbellied pig (a neighbor has her) and 2 cats who has been rehomed. But Yes, "Apexi" is now a chubby bed snuggling snoring 35lbs of happy pitbullmix. We are hoping to close on our home very soon and I cannot wait to try my hand with Chickens.

Welcome! We're in North Central Texas, over near Wichita Falls. Always glad to see another Texas and always glad to hear of people trying chickens! They are great stress relievers!

After what is going on with this shortsale, I need some stress relief!!
