Hi, I have just joined BYC and live in the North East of Scotland. I currently have 8 chickens, although one is giving cause for concern....I found your site when I was googling for info and ended up on one of your threads which was really helpful and interesting. My chickens are Scots Greys, Cuckoo Marans and a couple of hybrids. They are all named and are lovely pets. We have had chickens for about 8 years now and they get to run about on the grass and are loving the warm weather we are having right now.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. My wife and I visited Scotland for our 37th wedding anniversary and loved your beautiful countryside. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Thank you. Hope you decide to visit Scotland again sometime.

Hi :welcome from Yorkshire UK

Glad you could join the flock! Lovely to hear you found a thread that was very useful to you and helped. Sounds like you have a lovely flock there with a good mix. Be sure to ask any questions you may have, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Good morning and welcome to BYC!

Scotland is where my grandfather's family is from...some day I hope to be able to look up a McDonald or two. If you'd care to share photos of your chickens, that would be nice. I'd love to see your Scot's Greys.

Hope the bird you're worried about is ok.

Thanks for joining us here and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you for your lovely comments. Unfortunately the sick chicken had egg peritonitis and I had to have her put to sleep. It's always a sad thing to lose an animal, but that is only the second time we have had peritonitis in almost 8 years so I think we have been very lucky. Got two new pullets to cheer myself up, Martha and Betsy, 18 week old Hyline. They are still to meet the rest of the gang.
These are a couple of my Scots Greys - I don't have a cockerel as we have neighbours who may not appreciate the noise. These chickens are 8 years old now! I have marans who are about 5 years old and a couple of 2 year old hybrids as well as my new ones.
