Hi everyone,
New to the forum but have been a long time lurker on here :) we just got 9 chicks ( originally wanted 3 but you know how that goes) and we are already expanding our coop even though it was not finished! I'll be posting some guess the gender posts shortly

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) It sounds like "chicken math" is getting a toe hold with you. All of us here at BYC have OCD (Obsessive Chicken Disorder) and very few of us are immune to chicken math.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

You originally wanted 3 but got 9...It sounds to me like you'll fit right in here! They are hard to resist, aren't they.

Have fun with your chicks, they grow up so fast. Good luck with your coop build.

Thanks for joining us!

Hi and welcome to BYC - good luck with the coop expansion, but since you seem to have a severe case of chicken maths I reckon you should consider a barn! :D

All the best

Thanks Everyone! I have several chicks that I would like help with on guessing the gender and 1 chick I'm not sure if the breed matches what they sold it to me as. It's always interesting when you buy straight run chicks

You're welcome. Definitely post their pics on our What Breed or Gender is This? section.

First it was "let's only get 3". Then we (I) thought that 6 was a better number and we ended up with 9. Well out of the 9, 3 are roosters. We plan on keeping the one silkie rooster but decided we are going send the BO and FBCM to freezer camp. Both are about 4 months and have already picked up some major 'tude with pecking and challenging and not moving out of the way.

Sooooo, once we get rid of the 2 boys, we (I) are (am) going to replace them with the same number of girls.....3

Makes total sense right?!

Is it bad that you look at other properties to move to so you can have more room for more chickens? lol
