I have been having chicken dreams for a couple years now, but have always lived in areas that prohibited chicken keeping. Me and my husband recently moved into a country house and have finally been able to pick up our first flock of fuzzy butts! Any advice from northern IN residents would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. Put your state name in the search box and it will pop up. Then you can get to know any local Bycers them by posting.

The Learning Center can be a big help in getting started off on the right foot:

What breed of chickens do you have? Feel free to share a photo if you'd like.

Thanks for joining us!

I have ameruacanas (supposedly, we'll see once they feather out), RIRs, and a BR. Debating if I want to pick up a couple that will lay white eggs or not to add to the basket color palette. ;)

Right now I have girls that lay various shades of brown (lost my only EE). White egg layers are on my 'wish list' to add a bit of variety to the egg basket. And check out Olive Eggers, they lay pretty shades of green!
