Hello! I am married to a wonderful and supportive man. We have 8 children , all ours, ranging in ages from 4-17. I am extremely busy-6 of the 8 play athletics year round. We are self employed by 2 industries....a small trucking company and rental property. I would love to homestead...when it's a little more convenient. Right now I only have time to dabble...

I have a mature Jersey dairy cow (Daisy) and a Jersey bull calf (Mike) that will hopefully grow into some beautiful breeding stock. Love raw milk!

I also have a La Mancha dairy goat (Aunt B), she's really the sweetest but drives me crazy! She'll jump into my van people!

We occasionally have a pair of pigs. Currently we are pigless but another set will come sooner or later.

I have a goofy Great Dane puppy (Everett) and a Boxer (Roxie).

My son picked up a baby ball python (Monty) for Christmas.

And finally, in September I bought some baby chicks for my son (the one that needed the snake). We had some trouble in the chick department... Lost possibly 20 due to wild predators and Roxie. She tries to kill everything. 😔 We are down to 9 but they are going strong.

I'm not sure what breeds I have. They are common, I know that much....

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you decided to join us! Definitely stop by our What Breed or Gender forums Here for breed ID's. Dogs generally see chickens as a meal so you will need to keep your birds in a run if the dog is loose.

You might also like to chat with your neighbors in your state thread of Texas Here.

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our community! :)

Awesome, thank you!

It sounds like you're busy enough :) It would be fun to see some pictures of all your animals (including the snake, my son had some too at one time).

Best wishes and thanks for joining us!

Welcome to BYC. Interesting to see how your Jersey bull calf matures. I went to Rutgers, and they had a fairly large Jersey dairy herd. All of the bulls were as mean as Mexican fighting bulls. They would try to hook you over the gates of their box stalls. The cows were all sweet hearts.
