Hi everyone,
We got our first every batch of chicks in March, and they have been a lot of fun (as well as a huge learning experience)! I have been helped out so much by the forums on this page, that I decided to stop lurking and finally join the community. We currently have 7 chickens of various breeds - 2 Welsummers, 2 Rhode Island Reds, a Buff Cochin, a Silver Spangled Hamburg, and an Ameraucana (who has turned out to be a rooster - but that is a discussion for a different thread!). The Hubs and my daughter talked me into getting the chickens, and now I can't imagine not having them scooting around our backyard. We also have two dogs, who get along with the chickens surprisingly well. In the space of a year we have gone from 0 pets to 9, and our hands are full!
I look forward to learning more from you all as my chicks mature into the egg laying phase.
