First off, let me say thank you for all the help you've provided so far!
I've been lurking ever since I first acquired my first coop and four pullets in mid-July. It's been so much fun reading your posts and learning all I can. The girls have been such a great addition to our little menagerie, and a great start to realizing my dream of moving out of the city and starting a little farm. I'm several years away from that, but at least it seems a little closer now.
All has been well so far - the two barred rocks are now 19 weeks old and are fat and saucy - their combs are getting redder every day and I'm excited about moving closer to our first egg. My two Easter Eggers are 4 weeks behind them, and one of them has developed such gorgeous coloring - she reminds me of a pheasant! Unfortunately, the runt of the litter - my littlest EE (we call her General Sherman because her facial feathers look like whiskers) has suddenly gotten very, very sick and I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose her.
I plan to post more about her on the Diseases thread, but wanted to take a moment for introductions.
Thanks again for your great humor, wealth of knowledge, and sense of community!
