I am new to chicken keeping, I have six 10 week old chicks. 2 RIR, 2 Barred rocks & 2 Ameracaunas (I actually think they are EE). They were all supposed to be pullets but I'm starting to question 2 of them. I love having them and can't wait till they start laying!!

Welcome to BYC from Colorado also!! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Good luck with your chickens! Yes, awaiting that first egg is always fun and hard! LOL Let us know when you get it!

Feel free to ask any questions. Also, if you are wondering about gender, you can ask here https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Mountain Peeps has left you with the link to our What Gender section. I hope you don't have too many roo's!!!

Enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC! If the seller you bought them from spelled them Americauna, instead of Ameraucana, then I can guarantee you the are EEs. If they have greenish legs, then they are EEs. If neither of these is the case and you want to know for sure, post a pic of them and we can ID them for you. Either way, there's nothing wrong with EEs. They typically outlay their blue egg laying parent, and they lay eggs in other colors besides blue. My granddaughter loves them for their colored eggs. Good luck with your flock.

and welcome to the flock. If you go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum you can locate and post on your state thread.

It's is likely you may find some other chicken folks in your area,
