Kia Ora...
I'm a new kiwi (less the furry irritating skin)
I've owned velociraptors for a total of about 8 months now. I may be a tad addicted to velociraptors. Maybe. Shh, don't tell anyone.
We have:
Berti - big fat mama white 3yo sussex/wyandotte. She's the matriarch of our little bunch. My best layer - hasn't stopped since we got her 6/7 eggs a week, through winter (and had been laying at least 6 months before I got her).
Henri - fat mama hyline, 2nd in charge. 2yo egg machine.
Josie - skinnier hyline, 1yo egg machine. Lays quite small eggs, but lots of them - often more than one a day... averages around 7/8 eggs a week. Probably get about 1 double yolker a week. (pictured trying to eat my camera)
Lumpy - Fat mama black 10mo wyandotte. Broodiest bitch of them all. She's currently sitting on some BR and RIR eggs (fingers crossed for an RIR roo/BR hen!). Has a big lump on her back, hence the name.
Not Lumpy - slightly less fat mama black 10mo wyandotte. Not friendly, quite anti-human..until there's food then we learn why I call em velociraptors.
All are pretty cool characters...
And just for lulz, we have a 10yo brown shaver next door - THATS STILL LAYING. yikes.
Pretty mild climate here, and no predators willing to take on a full grown chicken (the cats here are too damn lazy), so all free range around our yard and do a great job keeping the weeds in check (squashed down, rather than eaten..lol)
All are pretty cool characters...

Anyway - thats about it ... feel free to ask away if you wanna know anything else!
